  Master's education in "Discourse and Communication", College of Foreign Languages, Hangzhou Normal University, is a second-level characteristic discipline under the first-level foreign language and literature discipline. The person in charge is professor shi xu, a famous scholar of discourse research at home and abroad. "Discourse and Communication", involving multidisciplinary such as linguistics, communication studies, cultural content, and information technology, aims to train students in the political, economic, cultural and diplomatic fields such as word spread of research ability and practice ability, make the future of the organs of enterprises, and the spread of the discourse leader or relevant personnel for teaching and scientific research.

The master's education will begin enrollment in the second half of 2018, and the first batch of students will be enrolled in September 2019!

Introduction to teachers:

  Besides, head of the discipline, this direction has 3 professors, 2 associate professors, 2 lecturers, has the good academic accomplishment, foreign language level is high, most of the work or study abroad or foreign exchange experience, and employ the communication university of China professor Yang yajun, dean of institute of media and public affairs, and related enterprises and institutions for excellent part-time teachers.

  In the past five years, members of the echelon have won 3 national social science funds, including 1 key project presided over and 2 major projects participated in the national social science fund. 2 projects of the ministry of education, 7 projects of the provincial and ministerial level, and 1 project of the municipal level; Published more than 40 papers in CSSCI, SSCI, A&HCI source journals; It has won one third prize of outstanding scientific research achievements in institutions of higher learning of the ministry of education, one first prize, two second prizes and two third prizes of zhejiang philosophy and social science outstanding achievements, one first prize of the eighth youth social science research achievements of zhejiang federation of social science and technology, one first prize and two third prizes of zhejiang university scientific research achievements.

Curriculum:

(1) social, cultural and political discourse communication: research and practice on discourse communication are carried out according to the needs of national politics, administrative management, mass communication, literature and art, etc.;

(2)business and trade financial discourse communication: conduct research and practice on discourse communication according to the needs of business, trade, finance and other fields;

(3) regional international and global discourse communication: conduct research and practice on discourse communication according to the needs of diplomacy, national defense, governance of international order and other fields.

Professional features:

  The core ideas of this direction are reflected in Cultural Discourse research: exploring theories, methods and problems in China (Shi xu, 2010), what is Discourse research (Shi xu, 2017), A Cultural Approach to Discourse (shi-xu, 2005) and Chinese Discourse Studies (shi-xu, 2014).

 The characteristic of this direction is to enable students to master international cutting-edge discourse theories and methods that fit the reality of China, and to learn basic information technology.

 In addition to lectures, discussions, reading and essay writing, students also have opportunities for internships and academic exchanges.
